Scope: Refurbish and remodel entire 4th floor, incorporating an 18 bed locked (I-3) unit and ADA upgrades. Goal: Refurbish patient floor, which includes all finishes, accessibility upgrades and remodeling of nurses’ stations. Creation of a new maximum-security, locked (I-3) unit. Challenge: Incorporate ADA upgrades and creation of a new I-3 in an existing hospital and existing infrastructure. Solution: Developed a new master plan study for the entire hospital, which allowed us to create a maximum-security unit on this floor. By paying attention to critical lighting, we were able to incorporate some existing finishes hence saving capital and creating a better work environment resulting in improved patient care. Subsequent to this project, the facility has been upgrading other patient floors, modeled after the 4th floor.
