Robertson Khalafi & Associates seek clients not
projects. We see projects as opportunities to demonstrate
our skills and commitment to secure other long-term
clients.
We strive to help our clients make wise and effective
decisions regarding facility issues. As problem solvers,
we will be resourceful enough to invent processes and
systems, do all necessary research and secure specialized
consultants, to clarify issues and choices for our clients.
We seek to offer services throughout the life cycle
of facilities, entering the cycle at whatever point
is appropriate, and continuing indefinitely. Accordingly,
we have developed skills in Planning, Design, Construction
and Facility Management.
We remain tuned in to trends influencing the facility
decisions our clients need to make, --both today and
tomorrow, -- both in their world, and in our world of
design and construction. We listen to and learn from
our client, to become an extension of his/her organization.
Robertson Khalafi & Associates is committed to "Architectural
Stewardship", the long term care of existing buildings
through maintenance, renovation and adaptive use to
avoid the cost of new construction and to encourage
the conservation of world resources.
We believe that good buildings respond to time and
place, and to the constraints under which they emerge.
We strive to design facilities that are compatible with
both the context in which they are built and the traditions
of our clients. We will not let our egos or whim lead
design decisions.
We seek technical excellence through careful and thoughtful
detailing, based on our own experience and our observations
of the long-term effects of use and climate on various
construction systems and materials.
We see it as our responsibility to continuously inform
our clients of the cost implications of their facility
related decisions. We strive to control cost through
consideration of the life cycle cost and application
of the principles of value engineering. Our focus is
on value.
We believe in out sourcing those services better provided
by specialists, even when it might seem less expensive
to bring those services in-house, so long as we can
secure the quality of specialized support in our region.
We manage outside services with clear direction and
careful coordination, and we accept responsibility for
the work of our consultants.
We are committed to the professional development of
our staff, and we exercise that commitment through internal
and external continuing education. We believe we have
a responsibility to develop the skills of younger professionals
though mentoring and coaching. We seek to make each
staff person a full service professional, committed
to the needs of our clients; then we give them opportunities
to specialize in the areas of practice in which they
can best apply their talents.
